Vacation

With the cost of gas this year, we decided to stick a little closer to home for our vacation. We had a blast at Glen Rose-- staying in a cute cabin, exploring the Dinosaur State Park, swimming in the river, driving through a wildlife park, and touring the local sites. We stopped on the way home at the Dr. Pepper bottling company in Dublin, and the kids loved that.

We've found that we spend the first couple of days of vacation unwinding before we can truly relax. So many times, we've tried to pack our vacation with things to see and do. But, we're realizing that we really need to focus on being together, not doing things, so we can have the opportunity to allow God to restore our souls. So, next year the vacation will be a little longer, but will still be full of time to do nothing but be. A pastor once told us to make sure we make vacations a priority, especially financially. It's sound advice. Some of our kids' best memories are going to come from the days we spend away together on a new adventure.
